Tom has been a programmer, software engineer, technical fellow, manager and technology director in both start-ups and established corporations for almost 50 years and still enjoys learning the latest software technologies and dabbling with code. His latest whim is a new iPhone app.
Tom has a lifelong interest in astronomy, science, math, eco-causes, mountain climbing, hiking and a lot more, including almost 10,000 hours spent as a volunteer in Discovery Park (Seattle's largest open-space park) doing habitat restoration.
Tom has had a long-term interest in social justice and the civil rights movement spurred by his experience as a Washington student transplanted to a segregated high school in New Orleans in a critical era for our country (1963-1965).
